Some of you may know I’m a sucker for a great motivational speech, and this time of the year, I really look forward to surfing YouTube for the latest and best commencement speeches from 2021.

All of these speeches have several common themes that I think, as we get older, we lose sight of.  As time goes on, sometimes we forget, sometimes we’re frustrated, and sometimes, because we don’t succeed when we start out with a dream, a dream of starting a business, or career we’ve always dreamed of, we give up and comprise what’s in our heart. That’s when we sometimes take the safe road, the road that seems easy, the road that’s not in our heart, the road that’s not our passion, the road that someone else chose for us.

How do I know this?  A long time ago, I gave up on my dreams. I took the easy road, and I allowed someone else to choose the road for me. I accepted a safe job, and not in an industry that I was passionate about.  Like most situations when I fail, I learned from it and learned not to compromise my dreams, goals and passion.  That was my mistake and I learned from it, and in time I did follow a career I love and the one I’m in today.
