Mind Your Business,

Are you Vulnerable?

First, this is not about our feelings or the benefits of a relationship. I want to talk about being vulnerable as it relates to success. So, my question is, are you vulnerable enough to risk failure for you to succeed? I’m not talking about setting a simple goal or reaching an easy budget goal, or even a goal you know in your heart, with little effort, you’ll accomplish. I’m talking about dreaming that big, wild, almost, you must be crazy to dream, goal. I’m talking about a transformational goal.

If you set a transformational goal, would you be vulnerable enough to risk the embarrassment of failure?

Based on what I’ve learned about being vulnerable, you can’t find or experience true success unless you’re willing to wrestle with and become comfortable with your vulnerability at some level. I think you almost have to be comfortable with risking failure. It should be a part of who you are.

By being vulnerable, I’m not talking about being a pushover or someone who screaks at any uncomfortable situation. I’m talking about someone who understands that the currency for success is largely due to hard work, a good plan, maybe a little luck and understanding that the bigger the goal, the bigger the fall, and the bigger the risk of failure. And, of course, the risk of hearing it from Mr. and Mrs. I told you so!

You must be willing to fail to be the best version of yourself. You must be willing to put it all on the line and be comfortable with the reality that if you’re willing to do everything in your power to succeed, you take the very real chance that you might fail. And to be okay with it, almost comfortable with failure, you can only get there by being vulnerable – vulnerable enough to take that chance and risk failure.

So today, what are you willing to risk failure on?

My 2 cents …
